how has the mcat been affected by covid-19?

All administrations of the MCAT through May 21 have been cancelled. If you were registered for a test date that has been cancelled, you will receive an email from the AAMC and/or Pearson VUE. Learn more from the AAMC.
As of 4/24, the AAMC has announced three new MCAT test dates:

June 28
September 27
September 28

For all remaining test dates in 2020, exam time will be shortened to 5 hours, 45 minutes to accommodate three tests per day.

Morning: 6:30 AM
Afternoon: 12:15 PM
Evening: 6:00 PM

what are my rescheduling options?

The MCAT registration system will re-open on May 7. You can reschedule your test date, you can wait to decide when you’d like to reschedule to, or you can cancel. All corresponding fees will be waived, and refunds will be issued accordingly. Learn more from the AAMC.

how will admissions cycles be affected?

The AAMC has announced that applicants have an extra two weeks to submit their applications. They will send data to schools on July 10, as opposed to the original June 26 date. The delay is not currently expected to push back the future steps of the application cycle. Learn more from the AAMC.

will safety measures be put in place for future mcat testing?

All test centers will implement enhanced disinfecting practices and social distancing, and provide hand sanitizer. They will also encourage all examinees to bring gloves and masks.
